Ever sat down to do something important and somehow ended up scrolling for an hour instead? Guess what?... Your nervous system is doing exactly what it's wired to do.

In this episode of Showing Up Whole, Christina confesses her own pre-recording scrolling spiral and uses it as the doorway into one of the most practical spiritual concepts she teaches: Disc Work

As we move into solstice season, big energetic shifts are landing in the body long before the mind catches up  and that gap is exactly why we resist the very changes we're craving.

Christina also shares a real-time, in-the-moment download: while prepping her annual Solstice workshop, she realized it had quietly become something else entirely  a full manifestation experience, built around the mechanics of how we actually create change (hint: it's a heart game, not a head game).

What You'll Discover in This Episode

  • Why procrastination isn't a character flaw. Scrolling, avoiding the email, putting off the task, these are nervous system defense mechanisms, not personal failures. Understanding why the resistance shows up is the first step to moving through it.
  • The science (and spirit) of homeostasis. Your body and brain are wired to keep things the same, even when "the same" isn't working for you. Learn why the moment something starts to truly change is often the moment resistance peaks.
  • Why old-school manifestation doesn't land the way it used to. Visualization and vision boards aren't wrong, but Christina explains why manifestation has shifted from a head game to a heart game  and what that actually means in practice.
  • An introduction to Disc Work, based on Abraham Hicks' concept of the vibrational disc: how your daily habits, stories, and energy build momentum like a record in a groove, attracting more of the same, and what it actually takes to start a new one.
  • How to start a new disc, with real examples spanning money, flexibility, and relationships  including the small, repeatable steps that build new momentum without requiring you to overhaul your life overnight.

A Simple Solstice Practice You Can Use Today

Christina shares a simple, doable ritual for anyone wanting to start shifting their disc right now, no workshop required: sit with a piece of paper, notice what's genuinely dissatisfying you, and ask what your most-aligned self would do differently. Then do that one small thing. That's the whole disc-building practice in miniature.

While working through this material, Christina realized her annual Solstice workshop needed one more piece and in doing so, it became a full manifestation workshop. This year's version goes deeper: clearing heart clutter, regulating the nervous system, and learning to actively build a new disc rather than just thinking about it.

Solstice Season And Inner Change

Christina

Hi, and welcome back to Showing Up Whole, the place where we discuss alignment in mind, body, heart, and spirit in every aspect of our lives. And today, as we tip further into the season of the solstice, we are looking at the changes that are coming within ourselves. We need to discuss how we actually align to the new. Because really, the old hasn't not been fitting for a while, and the new is right around the corner. So that's a line. And welcome back. I

When Resistance Looks Like Scrolling

Christina

have to say that I had spent an hour scrolling before actually coming in and doing this podcast. I completely confess this because I could feel the resistance within me, not about the podcast specifically, but just about doing anything that moves life forward. There seems to be this general sense of pause right now, where it's very easy to sort of pretend everything is not existing. There's a sense of, I find myself talking to a lot of people how they they're struggling actually getting an email out, or they're struggling with actually getting the shopping done or getting the different tasks done just because they are feeling their nervous systems basically holding themselves back. This is totally natural. When you are looking at a sense of change shifting within you, your nervous system's picking that up far before your brain is. We know for a fact that we are energetic beings. Our hearts pick up things a lot faster than our heads. So there is change in the air. There's no doubt about it. Astrologers are talking about this massive energy of July, that things are shifting and changing. And I think we all know, even just looking at the world around us, that that's already true. So our nervous systems are kind of shutting that down. Our brains are shutting that down. We know that our human selves, those our brains, the stories we tell ourselves, our nervous systems, that human element of ourselves loves comfort. It loves the routine and habits that we have practiced for a long period of time. That is normal, it is balance, it is safety. However, we also know that spiritually, we love the change, we love the ride, we love the growth and eagerness for the new. So right now, those two parts of you may feel even more at polar opposite ends, and you may feel that that battle is sort of ongoing at the moment. Totally natural. Again, it is what we're in right now. But the solstice is around the corner, and it is really, really important to start leaning in to who we are becoming.

A Workshop Twist Toward Manifestation

Christina

Yesterday I decided to start doing my own little taste of this. So what did I do? I decided to sit and work through the material of my workshop. So I'm offering the workshop of Becoming Your Light on Sunday in time for the solstice. It's at 3 p.m. Eastern, 8 p.m. British time, if you're interested. And I started working through the material. And lo and behold, as I was working through the material and watching my own heart unfold the information that I was gathering, the data that I was gathering from the questions that are in the material, all of a sudden I realized that there was a simple card missing. It was like one of the slides needed to be built, and I'd never noticed that it was there before. And the slide was all about the concept of disc work. Discs, like a spinning disc, like a record that needed to be discussed. You know, it's so funny that I've never actually included this into a workshop before. It is so interesting how I work through this with clients continually. Once we have worked through regulation and worked through clearing out the clutter of their hearts, all of a sudden when they turn to me and they go, Well, Christina, now I've like released all of this and I know how to regulate. Now what? That's when we pull out the disc work. And so there I was, sitting there looking at my solstice workshop that I offered over like for the last two years, I've offered this workshop. And suddenly I looked at it and went, but I've never seen it as a manifestation workshop before. And that's precisely what it's needed to be. Manifestation. We don't talk manifestation as much as we used to. You know, when you consider the years of the secret when we were talking about visualization and setting your intentions, even like five, six years ago when I first started offering my New Year's workshop, it was focused on how are you setting the intention and how are you vibrating and resonating with your dream intention? What is it, your ultimate dreams? What is your ultimate passions? What is it that you want to draw into your life? And over the last five years, it's kind of shifted. We don't talk about it the same way. And I would say that over the last two years, we're all sensing that there's a shift in how that actually works. It still works. It's just that we've come to learn that it's actually a heart game far more than a head one. So as I was looking at this workshop and realizing that we needed to do disc work, I immediately started rewriting some slides and moving things around and changing it and ta-da! Now it's a manifestation workshop. And I must admit, I kind of went, oh, okay, this is actually happening in a few days. So it seems a little bit um timely that all of a sudden I really need to kind of start explaining to people how this actually flows. What is

Disc Work And Your Life’s Frequency

Christina

disc work? I want you to look at your life right now. And I want you to tap into the frequency of your life. Not of you, of your life, the energy of it, the feeling of it. If you don't quite know what I mean by that, imagine your childhood home. Imagine where you grew up. Imagine your life of when you were, I don't know, like 10. And call up the essence of the house that you were living in. You'll probably get a sense, almost like a movie, of the way things felt, the energy of the day-to-day existence. It didn't matter which season it was, it didn't matter who was around. There was just a general energy to your home life experience. Now, you can get more specific in that home life experience. You could maybe call up Christmas when you were little, or you and Christmas would have a certain tone, a certain energy. Um, you could call up a summer, maybe you have a summer holiday that you used to take often, and you can call up that essence. Memories are vibrational packets. And when you call it up, it's like you all of a sudden play a movie, but you feel it rather than see it, right? So right now in your life experience, you are creating an energy packet. That shifts. We create chapters of our life. So this might be a different energy chapter than, you know, four years ago, five years ago. Uh, sometimes we're actually really early on in a chapter. So it could have been last week, and all of a sudden you're in a different energy chapter, but they do gradually change, usually. So disc work is when we understand that we are creating this energy world. Uh, this is a concept that's taken from Abraham Hicks, uh, the the channel, um, who which who which is channeled by Esther Hicks. And, you know, the idea is that you have this vibrational disk, this spinning vortex of energy. And it starts off with your daily habits and your daily stories and who you are in the moment. And you practice it. So it starts, you know, quite early on, but you've built and you've built and you built and you've built, and now you're in a groove. So think that's why I like using record, right? Because it's like you're in the groove of that record, and it's going around and it's going around and it's going around. And the idea is that that energy, that kind of vortex, that momentum, starts to suck in different elements that are the same into that disk. So you meet the same type of people, you have the same type of experiences, you start the same types of projects. Uh, maybe, maybe they always go the same type of way. You go on similar trips. You find yourself saying things like, oh, these things always happen like this. Oh, it always turns out just like that. These things always happen to me, right? So this is your experience. And it's important to just see it as this energy vortex that is spinning and spinning and spinning and spinning. And therefore, as it spins, it is attracting more of the same. Because like attracts like. We are magnetized to things of the same energy. Then the idea behind disc work is if you want to transform your life, if you want to create a different experience, even if you want to, well, say one of those projects that always ends up going the same way, if you actually want to change that outcome, you have to change your disc. You have to change the record. It has to be a different energetic space. You have to move forward from one version of yourself into the new version of yourself. From being the version of yourself of the one who wanted success to being in the disc that is successful, to being from the version who wanted to feel free and to feel stressless and to feel open and healed. You have to be then leaning into the space where you resonate as that. So you start this other disc and you start to create momentum. But first you have to actually find the energy of what you're actually desiring to create. What is it you're feeling called to? In fact, let me rephrase that. Who are you feeling called to be? Because just like Wayne Dyer always said, you know, he always used to talk about how it was, it's not you don't get what you want. You get who you are. Because the disc over here that you've been living isn't just sucking in what you want, and it's also not sucking in just what you don't want. The common denominator that everything comes into your life with is the energy that's being set. Now, your involvement in that energy is from who you are at this moment. We are growing and changing beings. We are continually transforming. We are continually deepening. We are continually realigning. We are continually infusing our spiritual energy into who we are becoming. So this isn't stagnant. Our brains want it to be stagnant. Our brains love the stability of a steady, consistent disk. Our brains want to see us continuing the same pattern over and over and over again because that leads to feeling safe. Our nervous systems love the sense of lack of change. Our nervous systems want us to feel the same thing over and over and over and over again because that feels safe. But it's not what we came for. We didn't come here to do the same thing over and over again. Rather, we came to grow. We came to feel the discomfort of shifting from one version of ourselves into the next. We came for the growth, we came for the expansion, and so we have to lean into learning how to create that next disc. And it starts with leaning into who you're feeling called to be.

Homeostasis And The Fear Of Change

Christina

Again, it's the solstice. It's a time of uncovering what you're feeling called into, calling back the concepts that you had at the earlier, early start of the year of who you wanted to become. And what I love about understanding how our brains resist that work or that change is, you know, it's simple homeostasis, right? If you imagine homeostasis like you were taught in junior high or elementary school, you know, the idea that our systems are always trying to create balance. It's always trying to keep that balanced level. So you have that balanced level, you know, your body will heat up when it gets too cold and it will cool down when it gets too hot. You know, we have so many systems that run on this concept of homeostasis, and our brains are exactly the same. So we resist the change. Now, the fun part of that is that when you actually do catch yourself on an hour of scrolling, when you do actually find yourself doing the things that indicate total and complete resistance in such a profound way, when you really can't write that email, when you really are feeling paralyzed from the actual movement forward, there's a very good chance that that is your homeostasis truly and entirely freaking out because you are on that cusp of making that change. That growth is just around the corner. And it your brain is truly fighting as hard as it can because it knows it is losing the battle. So your disc. Okay, I'm just gonna grab a drink of water because my throat chakra is being a little bit funky as I move through some of this resistance myself, and as we talk about this, I'll be right back. Do

Free Guide Break: The Missing Map

Christina

you feel like you're always trying to figure out the cause of something? Why are you anxious? Why does your stomach give you trouble? Why do you lack passion or why do you people please? It's frustrating when the questions of why overshadow life. Well, there are many reasons why things happen. Energetically, it comes down to alignment or unalignment. And while you can treat conditions and situations in all sorts of different ways, it helps to know where energetically you need to shift. It's like repairing a foundation to a house before anything else. This is why I created the missing map, a guide to understanding your energy system so it leads you back to wholeness. Inside, you'll learn about your chakras and your energetic worlds, how to know where you need to align, and how to realign when you need to. I've kept it really simple. So simple, in fact, that not only is there a PDF guide mapping it all out, there's an audio version you can listen to on the go. Download this key to your system. Learn how to navigate it all from the inside out. You can find the missing map for free at spirituallyaware living.com backslash the map or in the session notes below.

How To Start A New Disc

Christina

What have we got so far? We have got the fact that we are in a time of change. The solstice energy is coming in, it is fueling our inner fires to bring forth the new version of ourselves. And then we have homeostasis, which tells us that change is scary, that change is unwanted, that we need to keep things balanced and the same. Our nervous systems get triggered, we get ungrounded, our root chakras go flying off the wall. Because, and our solar plexus is trying to trying to do both jobs, right? Where it's trying to process everything and try to like create that change as well as then shine us out. But everything is triggered because change indicates a lack of safety. And yet, we came for change. We came to feel that shift in ourselves. And so, therefore, then we have to lean into the concept of these discs. These discs, the old version of ourselves that has built up momentum like a flying tornado that is sucking in all of the experiences that are a match to that energy, and then this slow-starting one. And this is where our attention needs to go. And this is why our brains are telling us not to do anything because we're resisting putting our attention where our brains need to go. How do you start a disc? First of all, you lean into who you are becoming. There's lots of ways that think you can do this. On the workshop, we're going to be doing some meditation for it. We're going to be doing some energy work for it. We've got some questions for it. We've got really leaning into who you sense you can be. A simple way of actually leaning into this, though, if you just for the purpose of this podcast, let's just actually lean into this year, right? You started off this year with an intention. You started off 2026 with an idea of who you wanted to become. Maybe that was simply a task that you actually wanted to complete. I was working, um, I was teaching a class today, and everybody was actually talking about writing books, which I thought was funny because that was one of my things for this year was to finish my book and to get it published. And I was like, oh, everybody here is actually also writing books. Okay. And that was the thing that I was like, yeah, but you know, I just can't. I meant to do that this year, meant to do that this year. One woman actually did finish her book this year, which was pretty impressive. So you go, even if you have that on this disc, this new disc, you are you, you are the author of a finished book. You are that that is that is the end destination. So therefore, then you become a different person when that is complete. You're no longer the person that, ah, I really wish I could write that book. No, you have become the person who either is writing the book or has written the book. You've become the published author of that book. Such an interesting thing that I actually ran, decided to use my own. So when we have moved through the process of a desire, we become someone different. We think that we need to actually do the action in order to become that person. But the truth is, is actually the action becomes a lot easier when we already are that person. Say you want to become more flexible, right? And you go, well, Christina, how am I supposed to manifest becoming the person that's more flexible when I'm not flexible? Well, how does your stories of your head say when you're flexible? When you are flexible, what are the kind of things that you would do in your day? You'd probably be doing more walking. Maybe you would be drinking more water, maybe you would be eating a certain way, maybe you would find that you made sure that you were moving in a certain time of day. There would be certain habits. That would be formed because you're more flexible. And so therefore, you start practicing those habits of the flexible person. I just realized that that could have totally been like flexible, being more like in the flow kind of thing as well. So that too, you could also go about those kinds of habits as well. Say you had an intention that you wanted to be more easy with your time, less flexible or more abundant. It doesn't mean that you need the money to feel more abundant. Rather, you look for the ways, the habits, the physicality, the version of yourself you would become. That is where visualization can come into terms because when all of a sudden you lean into visualizing yourself, you feel differently. But also you might find that you just take less time worrying about money and you actually just get outside more, or maybe you sit and read a funny novel rather than sitting studying the money mindset books. There are different stories that we tell. I mean, again, this is stuff that I work on with clients, and it takes quite a few weeks of actually forming exactly who they are becoming because I'm saying simple little tiny parts of their story, but we are complex layer after layer, and one layer feeds into another layer.

Money, Flexibility, Relationships In Practice

Christina

It's amazing watching when someone, let's say, say someone's dealing with relationship issues and they're unhappy in their marriage. And then they move from this kind of constant story of how unhappy they are in their marriage, this kind of constant focusing on the things that aren't working. And that's their disc where this the two of them just keep banging heads against each other. And then we start working on a separate disc. It's not a question of, oh no, you need to leave him before you become that person. Rather, it's a question of become the person. Stop the criticizing, stop noticing, and instead fill your own cup. If you were not in that relationship, you would be filling your own cup. If you're single, you are filling your own cup. You've the other people in the role is not the same. So, therefore, then I've seen so many women work through this process in this type of thing where, you know, all of a sudden they are doing the simple steps that are actually nourishing themselves. They're replenishing themselves. They're leaning into who they want to be, not who they want their partner to be so that they feel better. That's part of the disc. Now, you might be listening to this and go, ha, I need to actually start leaning into what I'm actually asking for on my disc. What is this old disc making me desire? What am I unhappy with, dissatisfied with, frustrated with on this disc? How do I become the opposite of that in this disc? What habits are gonna feed it? How am I gonna flow with that? You might have all intentions of doing that once you finish this podcast episode. And then chances are, and not to sound cynical or negative, because you know that's not my way, but chances are something's gonna distract you and you will forget. Not because there's anything wrong with you, but because your patterns are going to be strong to keep you where you are. And that is just the human, the human aspect of ourselves. That is the human process. The human process resists that change. That every night we um sit and we write through appreciation. So we write just what we've appreciated of the day. We find it changes our mindset astronomically. Every single time we do it, we wake up in just this great flowing space. Our whole attraction point changes, it builds the disc we want. And we haven't done it for probably six weeks. No specific reason. We had a couple of late nights, we got out of the habit of it. Meh, I'm all right. I'm not really in a negative space. I'm okay. Things are flowing, it's fine, it's fine, it's fine, and yet we just resist it. Why? Homeostasis. Homeostasis. When you know the thing works, chances are you will not do it. Because we are programmed to keep things the same. And yet, when things are the same, most of the time we'll find we're dissatisfied with it, or we're upset about it, or we're worried about it, or we're trying to change it, but we're not. So small steps. Very small steps. And this is the window to do it.

Solstice Reset Ritual And One Small Step

Christina

This is why I'm doing this podcast tonight, because Sunday is the solstice. It is halfway through the year. We can see this as a little semi-new year. It can be the time where we have this influx of amazing energy, positive light energy. And it is welcoming that light to spark within us, to actually claim ourselves, claim our energy. The summer is all about that outward energy flow. And yet, we feel like we've been doing that an awful lot all year round. So this is a moment to not try to just drum up that energy from within yourself. It's not about, I will do this, I will do this. Rather, it is setting the intention and sitting down with a piece of paper and just start to notice what's coming up within yourself. If you set the intention with a piece of paper and you lean into how am I feeling right now? What is making me dissatisfied? And then you just ask, how would I feel if that was resolved? And you lean into being the person that has that resolved. You're on your way. What would that person do? What's a small step that person would do? Do that. Put it in practice, make it a habit. You can tell yourself, well, that person wouldn't have my coffee first thing in the morning. She would have a piece of fruit first thing. Do that. It can be as simple as I would make sure I stop for five minutes and focus on appreciation before bed. That's what she would do. My most successful self, the person I'm becoming. And that is how you build a disc. Now, again, we're working through this as a group now on Sunday. Uh, you're welcome to join us by all means. Um, we're going to be leaning into as much as we can in a workshop that's about 90 minutes, um, as well as welcoming in the solstice and also acknowledging the old disc because it's really important to, you know, the old disc isn't an enemy. It was there and it was lived, but it's just that old pair of jeans that I've been talking about. You know, it's just had its life. So we release, we clear, we realign. And as you realign, you rediscover and you discover who you actually are wanting to be, who you've actually become, the light you have become, and then how to practice that so that when you wake up on Monday morning, Tuesday morning, Wednesday morning, you feel like you've grown into your skin. You are becoming the successful version of yourself. And it feels so good. All right.

Workshop Invite And Closing Blessings
